The house is the perfect mix of a bush camp experience with the comfort of a cosy home. Stu was extremely helpful in his communications and his description made locating the house easy, even in the dark. The outlook is pretty much just forest. The warmth and character of the house made us feel right at home from the outset. Looking forward to a return trip one day. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, many thanks Stu. From the start we wanted to limit our impact on the five acre forest it's nestled in because it's home to lots of wildlife and we tried to use recycled products where ever possible. The coastline of the Eurobodlla is arguably the most beautiful and most wild coastline in NSW and mostly national park. The Camp House is checked generally after most visitors leave by a neighbour who keeps an eye on the place for me.
I have found over the past five years hosting on airbnb that this place is a good compromise for families and groups who are divided on whether they want to rough it at a campsite or stay in a place where you can be very comfortable. For those that love the idea of camping but not so much the inconvenience and still want a sanctuary from the elements and a comfy bed to sleep in, then this place is ideal. There is a bus service that runs between Sydney and Moruya but you'd need a car to get to the Camp House from Moruya. We get little visitors like possums and bush rats in the kitchen and there's usually lots of birds hanging around and occasionally wallabies and kangaroos pass through. The insulation is made from PET plastic bottles and the building is sited so that we can make the most of the northern sun in winter. We really like that mostly the people who stay understand and appreciate what we have tried to create here and so far everyone has treated the Camp House and the forest with great respect. There are so many beautiful and wild beaches to go to and an amazing array of national park destinations nearby. Special thanks to Stu for his warmth and ease throughout our interactions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, many thanks Stu. There's going to be cobwebs here and there, although i try to stay on top of that and there will be dust from time to time, especially in the outside kitchen. There is also no wifi. Very important to note here We had a wonderful weekend away at Congo Camp House. The warmth and character of the house made us feel right at home from the outset. Would definitely stay again. Stuart was easy to deal with and helpful with advice about facilities in the region. Very peaceful, no TV, but there is a CD player with an aux cable. Due to recent comments I'd also like to stress, there is no air conditioning. You MUST also be prepared to take away all your own garbage when you leave and make sure the place is clean and tidy for the next folks. His generous advice and tips made our stay all the more enjoyable. The name 'Congo Camp House' is so apt. This is sort of seven star camping!! We find that it's unnecessary because of the location and the design of the house. The weather was cold and stormy but inside we were warm and cosy - the pot belly fire heats the house up beautifully! The outdoor kitchen encouraged us to spend most of our time out in nature and was more than adequate, even during some significant rainy periods. You are living in the elements just like if you were camping but there's very comfortable beds and a beautiful big bathtub. Stuart's place has all the comforts of home on an unreal property.
